We had the best trip in December. We went to Durango, Colorado to ride the Polar Express to "The North Pole". We went with the Elmores and the Nalders. We couldn't have asked for a better time.

We went out to eat at a restaraunt called SteamWorks the first night and Brent ordered a big cajun dinner that they brought out and poured right on the butcher paper. It was a fun, different place, although eating out with the kids is always an adventure.

The next day we went looking through the town and wandered through the fun shops. Then that night we went for a ride on the Steam Engine. The kids wore their pajamas and as we set off they read the Polar Express, served cookies and hot chocolate. We arrived at the North Pole to see elves and Santa waving at us. Then Santa and and his elves came aboard and gave each of the kids the first gift of Christmas which was a silver bell. On the way back we say Christmas Carols and I don't think the kids stopped smiling.

We played Ticket to Ride that night and ordered pizza. It was so great to have great friends there and it made it so much fun for us and the kids.

The next day we drove home in an absolute blizzard. We could not see more than 15 yards ahead of us but luckily we were following a snow plow. We made it home safely with good memories intact. I hope the kids will never forget it.

  1. Oh my gosh!!! How fun is this?!??!?! How early in advance to you have to get tickets? Is it a one time thing or do they do it all season? This is totally going on my bucket list for someday. So cute!!! What a FUN family memory!
